A New Chapter for the South West: Pipers & Co x Philip Warrens
Two Family Businesses. Two Next Generations. One Shared Mission.
In the rolling hills that define Devon and Cornwall, food has always been more than something we eat. It’s culture, heritage, and the lifeblood of rural communities. Today, we’re proud to announce a partnership that strengthens these roots and looks firmly towards the future: Pipers & Co is joining forces with Philip Warrens, one of the South West’s most respected butchers and graziers. On the surface, this is a partnership between two longstanding food businesses. But at its heart, it’s a story of two families, two next generations stepping up, and a shared belief in doing things properly.
Built on Generations of Craft
For over 200 years, Philip Warrens has stood at the centre of Cornish farming culture. As butchers and graziers, they have always done things the traditional way, from raising native cattle on grass to dry-aging beef on the bone. Their deep relationships with small-scale family run farms and their commitment to craft have made them trusted by everyone from local families to Michelin-starred chefs across the country. Today, that legacy is carried forward by Philip’s son, Ian, who has taken the helm with the same values, deep knowledge of livestock, and unwavering commitment to supporting local farmers.Meanwhile, in the red-soiled hills of Mid Devon, Pipers Farm began its journey 35 years ago when Peter and Henri Greig set out to prove small-scale farming could thrive. Their son Will grew up at the heart of the farm and the food movement it inspired. Today, under the stewardship of Will, Pipers & Co represents the next evolution of that mission, bringing together farmers, growers, and artisans who share the same values of trust, fairness, and regenerative farming.
Now, both businesses are guided by their next generation, sons who watched, learned, and inherited the same passion for doing things the right way.
Strengthening the South West Farming Community
One of the most exciting parts of this partnership is what it means for local farmers. The Pipers Farm network of small family farmers will not only remain intact but will continue to thrive, now working directly with Philip Warrens, whose expertise in butchery, grazing, and supply-chain craftsmanship spans centuries. This collaboration creates more stability for farmers. With two established businesses working together, our farmers benefit from a more resilient, dependable route to market.More opportunity across the South West. From the margins of Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor to the green pastures of the Tamar Valley and beyond, our farmers gain access to better long-term security.More integrity in the food system.
By keeping production and processing in the region, value stays local. We are supporting abattoirs, farmers, butchers, delivery drivers and more, a whole ecosystem of rural skills and rural jobs right here in the South West.Good Food Made More Accessible
At a time when we know customers are demanding transparency, provenance, and truly sustainable food, this partnership brings something rare: two deeply trusted, highly regarded businesses combining their strengths to make good food easier for people to access.Through Pipers & Co, you will now be able to buy Philip Warrens’ exceptional native breed meat online, delivered with the same care and integrity you’ve come to expect from everything we do.
Two Families, One Purpose
Both Pipers & Co and Philip Warrens were built by families who believed in a better way. Now, as the next generation takes the reins, guided by the values their parents and grandparents laid down, this partnership marks a powerful step forward. Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient food system for the South West and beyond.
A food system built on trust.
A system that rewards farmers fairly.
A system that brings joy back to the food we eat.
We are incredibly proud to begin this new chapter together and excited for what it means for the future of farming, food, and community. Here’s to two great South West families joining forces to create something even greater.
