Product details

Classic croissants from Hobbs House Bakery, slow-fermented, hand-laminated with proper butter, and baked to a deep amber that crackles with every tear.

A good croissant is one of the most technically demanding things to bake well, and Hobbs House Bakery in Chipping Sodbury has been perfecting theirs for years. Using slow-fermented dough and a generous quantity of proper butter, each croissant is hand-laminated to build the hundreds of flaky, steam-separated layers that give a truly great croissant its texture. The result is a deep amber exterior that shatters and flakes, with a soft, almost creamy interior that carries that unmistakable richness of properly made pastry.

Delivery

We offer Next Day Delivery on orders placed by 1pm Monday to Thursday (excluding Highlands & Islands postcodes). During busy periods such as Christmas and Easter, cut-off times and lead times may change.

Ingredients

White WHEAT Flour (WHEAT Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Water, Unsalted Butter (MILK), Caster Sugar, EGG, Yeast, Salt, ascorbic acid

Storage

Keep frozen until you’re ready to bake, and use by the date shown on the packaging.

Cooking Instructions

A warm croissant at breakfast takes a little forethought the evening before. Line a baking tray with parchment and lay out your croissants, leaving a good gap between each one so they have room to grow as they prove. Cover loosely and leave somewhere warm overnight. By morning they should have doubled in size, risen and airy with the layers beginning to show. Uncover, brush with beaten egg (or milk, for a softer finish) and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for 10 to 15 minutes, until deep golden. Leave on a wire rack for a few minutes before tearing in.

Pork Shoulder

We cooked the rolled pork shoulder last Sunday and it was outstanding. Proper crackling, rich flavour and no watery mess in the tray. You can really taste the difference in how the animals are raised.

Slow Grown Whole Chicken

The chicken was full of flavour and roasted evenly. Nothing pumped or artificial about it. Just proper, honest food and a world away from supermarket birds.

Pipers & Co has that rare mix of convenience and genuine craft. Delivery is reliable and the meat arrives in perfect condition. It feels like you’re supporting real farmers not a big faceless company.
