What does 'Properly Free Range' mean for your Bronze Turkeys?
Our Bronze Turkeys are raised with genuine free range access, allowing natural behaviours and movement outdoors. They are slow grown on natural feed, ensuring high welfare and a flavour that reflects careful, ethical farming.
How do I choose between a whole turkey, crown, breast, or leg?
Choose a whole turkey for a traditional roast, a crown for a boneless breast roast, or individual legs and breasts for smaller portions or specific recipes. Each cut offers the same careful rearing and rich flavour from our Bronze Turkeys.
When will my Free Range Bronze Turkey be delivered?
Our turkeys are seasonal and shipped fresh to arrive in time for your chosen delivery date, usually close to Christmas. We carefully pack each order to maintain freshness and quality during transit.
How should I store my turkey once it arrives?
Keep your turkey refrigerated at 0-4°C and cook within 2-3 days of delivery for optimal freshness. If you need to store it longer, freezing is best done immediately upon receipt.
What is a Bronze turkey?
Bronze is a traditional turkey breed, named for the bronze sheen on its feathers, that grows more slowly than the white commercial birds most supermarkets sell. The slower growth and outdoor life produce deeper flavour and firmer texture.
Should I order my Christmas turkey in advance?
Yes. Our Bronze turkeys are reared slowly through the year to be ready for Christmas, so numbers are set well before December. Order ahead and choose your December delivery date at checkout.
What is the difference between a whole turkey and a crown?
The crown is the whole breast still on the bone with the legs removed. It cooks faster, carves simply, and suits tables that prefer breast meat. The whole bird gives you the legs and a carcass for stock as well.
What can I do with turkey legs?
Treat them like a separate, richer meat. Boneless turkey legs roast or braise beautifully, with more flavour than breast, and they are excellent value outside the festive rush too.
Are turkey steaks just for Christmas?
No. Turkey steaks are a lean, quick midweek meat that pan-fries in minutes, and Bronze turkey has enough flavour to hold its own outside December.
How do I keep turkey from drying out?
Do not overcook it, and rest it generously. A slow grown Bronze bird has better fat cover and firmer meat than a commercial white turkey, which makes it far more forgiving, but resting for at least half an hour still makes the biggest single difference.
What should I do with the turkey carcass?
Stock. Simmer the stripped carcass with vegetables for a couple of hours and you have the base of soups and gravies well into the new year. It freezes well.
