Frequently Asked Questions

Who actually butchers the meat?
Philip Warren, the Cornish butchers and graziers we partner with, a family firm trusted by some of the country's finest kitchens for over 200 years. Every order is cut by hand, not portioned on a production line.
How is an online butcher better than my supermarket counter?
Provenance and skill. A supermarket counter sells commodity meat cut to a spec sheet; our meat comes from named farms rearing native breeds slowly, cut by a 200-year-old Cornish butchery. The counter cannot tell you who farmed it. We can.
What meat does your online butchery cover?
The full counter: 100% grass fed beef, lamb and hogget, slow grown free range chicken from Fosse Meadows, native breed pork, wild venison and game, plus bacon, sausages, charcuterie and offal. All free from antibiotics.
How long has Pipers & Co been doing this?
The farming network behind us goes back 35 years, to the values Peter and Henri Greig built Pipers Farm on. The butchery partnership with the Warren family adds two centuries of Cornish craft to that.
Is buying from an online butcher safe for food hygiene?
Meat is vacuum packed, frozen at its peak and shipped in insulated packaging with tracked delivery, an unbroken cold chain from butchery to doorstep. If anything ever arrives amiss, contact us and we will put it right.
Can I try the butchery without committing to a big order?
Start small: a pack of grass fed mince, some sausages and a couple of steaks travel just as well as a full box. The Taste of Pipers Box exists for exactly this introduction.
